WordPress Security Developer – Anti-Spam Specialist

Job Description

We are looking for a WordPress Security Developer to enhance the security measures of our UK e-commerce site. You will audit current WordPress registration and login processes, analyzing security plugins and custom code. Your objective is to identify how bots bypass existing protections, such as API abuse and plugin vulnerabilities. Develop and implement advanced anti-spam solutions customized for the site’s architecture, including challenges, behavior analysis, honeypots, and rate limiting, or integrate with third-party services like Cloudflare Turnstile. The solution should be user-friendly, lightweight, and easily maintainable. You will also provide documentation and a brief handoff to the client, ensuring a smooth transition and understanding of the implemented security measures.

Qualifications

1. Proven experience in WordPress security, specializing in combating spam registrations and bot attacks. 2. Strong PHP and WordPress development skills, with expertise in themes, plugins, hooks, and REST APIs. 3. Familiarity with modern anti-spam techniques, including CAPTCHA variants, JavaScript challenges, IP analysis, and browser fingerprinting. 4. Ability to reverse engineer bot operations and rigorously test your solutions. 5. Portfolio of relevant projects showcasing successful spam reduction or WordPress site security enhancements (include links or descriptions). 6. Excellent English communication skills, both written and spoken.
