Staff Platform Engineer

Job Description

We're seeking a Staff Platform Engineer to spearhead the design and advancement of our cloud platform spanning AWS and GCP. You will build and standardize key platform capabilities like CI/CD, observability tools, service templates, and optimized golden paths. This role involves developing and managing shared data platform services, including operators in Go, Kafka, Neo4j, and associated infrastructure. Partner with product engineering, security, and SRE teams, mentor fellow engineers, and drive cloud cost efficiencies through automation initiatives. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in enhancing the scalability and reliability of our data infrastructure.

Qualifications

1. Proven experience in managing infrastructure on a major cloud platform (AWS or GCP). 2. Hands-on expertise in operating Kubernetes and service mesh technologies (preferably Istio). 3. Solid understanding of cloud networking principles (VPCs, routing, load balancing, WAFs, network policies). 4. Demonstrated experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and software development in Golang. 5. Background in managing or supporting infrastructure for stateful applications (e.g., databases like GraphDB, Kafka) on cloud platforms. 6. Familiarity with cloud security protocols (IAM, security groups). 7. A bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
