Staff Network Engineer

Job Description

Waystar is seeking a Staff Network Engineer to contribute to our networking capabilities. This role involves architecting and implementing enterprise-scale GCP network designs, including VPC architecture. Responsibilities include designing and operating hybrid connectivity patterns using Cloud Interconnect and/or Cloud VPN. You will implement and govern GCP network security controls, and establish operational observability and troubleshooting practices using GCP-native networking telemetry. The role also entails building and maintaining Terraform for GCP network infrastructure, and partnering with platform/DevOps teams to integrate network IaC into CI/CD workflows.

Qualifications

1. 8-10+ years of progressive network engineering experience in large-scale enterprise environments. 2. Deep expertise designing and operating complex network architectures across Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and on-premises environments. 3. Proven experience applying infrastructure as code (Terraform required) to network platforms. 4. Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with Security, Cloud Platform, DevOps, and Engineering teams. 5. Strong written and verbal communication skills. 6. Experience participating in on-call or escalation rotations for critical infrastructure environments. 7. Cloud networking or relevant industry certifications (e.g., Google Cloud Professional Network Engineer, CCNP/CCIE) are preferred but not required.
