Staff Accountant

Canada – Remote Full-time$129k - $161k /year

Job Description

Assist with the monthly and quarterly close process, including financial statement preparation, journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis. Collaborate with Finance, IT, Tax, Legal, HR, Payroll, and other cross-functional teams to gather data, improve processes, and support business needs. Identify and implement AI and automation tools to streamline accounting processes, improve efficiency in the close cycle, and enhance data accuracy across accounting workflows. Enhance financial reporting processes and disclosures, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements. Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with US GAAP and other accounting regulations. Work with external auditors to provide support for annual audits and reviews. Support the Accounting Manager with special projects and ad hoc analysis as needed.

Qualifications

1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred. 2. 4+ years of relevant accounting experience, preferably with a mix of public accounting and industry experience. 3. Strong knowledge of US GAAP and experience with financial reporting and close processes. 4. Experience leveraging AI, automation tools, or advanced technologies to improve accounting workflows, increase efficiency in the close process, and enhance data accuracy. 5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders. 6. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to proactively identify and resolve complex accounting issues. 7. Ability to work autonomously and as a team member, meet tight deadlines, and thrive in an agile, often ambiguous, environment under pressure. 8. Experience in a fast-paced Software as a Service (SaaS) environment. 9. Experience with financial systems including ERP (Netsuite), Numeric, Zip, Navan and/or similar systems.
