Software Engineer III, Backend - Orchestration

Poland – Remote Full-time

Job Description

Take complete ownership of backend features, guiding them from initial scoping to full production. Keep the team well-informed on progress, potential risks, and any roadblocks encountered. Design and implement backend services that efficiently manage substantial payment volumes. Prioritize reliability, optimal performance, and accuracy at scale. Actively engage in architectural discussions, presenting proposals to the engineering council and advocating for clear, concise service contracts and a system design that's simple and easily maintainable. Monitor how your work performs in production, proactively identify potential issues, and lead incident resolution when needed. Produce high-quality code that reflects error considerations and is designed with future engineering needs in mind. Advance Primer's engineering standards by identifying areas for improvement and contributing to the team's adherence to established best practices. Work closely with engineers throughout the Orchestration team to shape the system's evolution through scoping sessions, code reviews, and key technical decisions.

Qualifications

1. Extensive backend engineering background, demonstrating the ability to translate vague requirements into fully functional, production-ready software with minimal oversight. 2. A solid understanding of distributed systems fundamentals: understanding common failure points in production environments and building resilient systems accordingly. 3. Comfort working with REST APIs and employing patterns that enhance service reliability, observability, and ease of understanding. 4. Proven experience managing projects from beginning to end, including deployment, monitoring, and post-deployment considerations, beyond just coding. 5. The ability to confidently participate in architectural discussions, pose relevant questions, and challenge design choices that may not align with best practices. 6. While experience in payments, fintech, or infrastructure is advantageous, strong engineering skills are more critical than specific industry expertise.
