Job Description

As a Backend Engineer, you will: - Take ownership of backend features from start to finish, keeping the team updated on progress and challenges. - Design and deliver highly reliable and performant backend services for real payment volume. - Participate in architecture discussions, propose solutions, and advocate for clear service contracts and maintainable system design. - Monitor the impact of your work in production, identify issues early, and resolve incidents effectively. - Write high-quality, production-ready code with attention to error handling and future maintainability. - Contribute to Primer's engineering standards and raise concerns when necessary. - Collaborate with engineers on the Account Experience team on scoping, code reviews, and technical decisions.

Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you should have: 1. Solid backend engineering experience with the ability to deliver production-ready software independently. 2. Strong understanding of distributed systems fundamentals and how to build reliable systems. 3. Comfort working with REST APIs and patterns for reliable and observable services. 4. Experience owning projects end-to-end, including monitoring and deployment. 5. Confidence to contribute to architecture discussions and challenge design decisions. 6. Experience in payments, fintech, or infrastructure is a plus.
