Software Engineer, Guest & Host

Job Description

Seeking a Software Engineer to enhance Airbnb's technology foundation and backend systems. Contribute to building services and APIs that drive both existing and innovative features for our web and mobile applications. Collaborate closely with data scientists and business analysts to define, capture, and utilize real-time event data, turning it into valuable business insights and cutting-edge product features. Work hand-in-hand with infrastructure engineering teams to participate in, validate, and improve our methods for building, testing, and deploying code within a distributed Service-Oriented Architecture. Take part in transforming current data access methods and creating new security protocols to ensure the safety and security of our community's personal data at scale. Maintain cloud infrastructure, specifically catering to Airbnb guests based in China. Gain the chance to collaborate with nearly every team in the company to showcase their product functionality within our customer support tools.

Qualifications

1. Possess 2-4 years of industry experience as a Backend or Full-Stack Engineer, along with a BS/Masters degree, or alternatively, no years of experience coupled with a PhD. 2. Have experience in constructing tools for internal use. 3. Demonstrate work experience, open-source code contributions, or coursework in languages such as C/C++, Java, C#, Python/Django, Ruby/Ruby on Rails, Javascript / TypeScript. 4. Exhibit exposure to architectural patterns used in large, high-scale web applications (e.g., well-designed APIs, high volume data pipelines, efficient algorithms). 5. Have experience with web development best practices like A/B testing and continuous integration. 6. Possess a robust understanding of data structures and problem-solving approaches, with the ability to articulate trade-offs. 7. Show a passion for creating a highly effective technology platform for our growing global workforce. 8. Be forward-thinking, addressing immediate regulations while building for long-term needs. 9. Be comfortable with tackling ambiguous problems and taking initiative to unblock yourself. 10. Focus on building high-quality products, understanding that every flow directly impacts the business bottom line. 11. Adopt a data-driven approach in solving problems and validating the accuracy of solutions. 12. Possess strong verbal and written communication skills. 13.
