Senior Staff Product Designer – AI

Job Description

Shape the design direction for Deel's AI initiatives, focusing on conversational interfaces, agents, and developer tools. Strategize the integration of intelligence across the platform, from agent notifications to workflow automation. Influence strategic dialogues with insights and design vision, identifying new opportunities in the AI product suite. Collaborate with the Principal Designer to define the boundaries between conversational AI and the intelligent OS, ensuring a seamless user experience. Formalize AI interaction standards by codifying patterns and quality expectations. Ensure consistency across the AI vertical, reducing fragmentation between conversational, agentic, and automated experiences. Mentor designers to consistently apply high-quality craft to AI products and drive effective cross-team collaboration. Champion user research to embed empathy and evidence into AI product development, guiding decisions with customer insights. Proactively anticipate challenges, make trade-off decisions, and take accountability for delivering high-quality AI experiences that benefit both customers and the business.

Qualifications

1. 8+ years as a Product Designer, with 3+ years at Staff level or above, leading design for complex product areas. 2. Experience designing AI-powered products, including conversational interfaces and AI agents. A portfolio demonstrating this experience is essential. 3. Proven track record of leading design for AI or ML products from inception to scaling. 4. Strong skills in UI, UX, interaction design, and visual design, creating functional and delightful experiences. 5. Understanding of AI/ML product design patterns, including prompt design and human-in-the-loop patterns. 6. Comfort with technical AI concepts, collaborating with ML engineers on interaction models and error states. 7. Active use of AI tools in your own design workflow. 8. Outstanding communicator and facilitator, building relationships and gaining alignment across teams. 9. Experienced in mentoring and growing designers. 10. Comfortable navigating ambiguity, balancing user needs with business objectives. 11. Strong cross-functional collaboration skills. 12. Data-informed and evidence-driven design approach. 13. Passionate about the intersection of design and AI. 14. Knowledge of payroll, HR, fintech, or compliance domains is a plus.
