Senior Software Engineer, Backend – API Integrations

Job Description

Own the complete technical integration between Reap and its partners. This includes designing, implementing, testing, deploying, and maintaining the system. Build and manage bidirectional data flows, both inbound (partner to Reap) and outbound (Reap to partner), covering funding, settlement, account events, card events, transaction data, and reconciliation signals. Serve as the main technical contact for the partner's engineering team, participating in syncs, reviewing API specs, and ensuring alignment on integration contracts. Translate partner's technical needs into detailed engineering tasks within Reap's systems. Collaborate closely with internal teams like Card, Treasury, Onboarding, and Compliance to ensure integration needs are addressed. Monitor integration health in production and handle incident response for integration issues. Maintain comprehensive documentation, including API contracts, data flow diagrams, runbooks, and change logs. Design robust, fault-tolerant integration architecture. Implement APIs, webhooks, event consumers, and data transformation layers. Ensure data consistency, idempotency, and auditability. Build test suites covering integration contracts and edge cases. Proactively identify and resolve blockers and misalignments. Work with various engineering teams to deliver integration dependencies. Represent the integration workstream in engineering planning and reviews. Own observability for the integration layer, including dashboards, alerting, and SLA tracking. Lead incident response and post-mortem processes. Continuously improve integration stability and reduce operational burden.

Qualifications

1. 6+ years of backend software engineering experience. 2. Proven experience building and managing production-grade API integrations with external partners. 3. Strong understanding of integration patterns, including REST APIs, webhooks, and event-driven architecture. 4. Experience working across organizational boundaries with partner or client engineering teams. 5. Comfortable translating loosely defined requirements into concrete engineering solutions. 6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
