Senior Scientific Director, Publications – Portfolio Lead

Job Description

As a Portfolio Lead, you will be responsible for the complete strategic oversight of one or multiple accounts. You will spearhead scientific strategy and ensure top-quality content at every stage. The role involves leading teams independently, setting standards for quality, and implementing industry best practices throughout assigned teams. Responsibilities include supervising the creation of high-quality content across a variety of materials, conducting detailed scientific reviews to ensure accuracy and stylistic consistency, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. Additionally, you will lead scientific discussions, workshops, and training sessions. You'll also be responsible for managing 3-5 direct reports, conducting performance evaluations, setting goals, and guiding their career development, plus contributing to project scoping and resource planning.

Qualifications

1. An advanced degree in a scientific or healthcare-related field (e.g., MSc, PhD, PharmD, MD) is strongly preferred. 2. Possess 8+ years of experience in medical communications/medical writing, including leading multi-asset or multi-account projects and overseeing scientific teams. 3. 3+ years' experience in managing people and coaching. 4. Exceptional scientific writing, editing, and data interpretation skills. 5. Strong command of publications standards, where applicable. 6. Solid understanding of clinical research and the regulatory landscape. 7. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, graphic and image generation software, and collaborative platforms. 8. Strong organizational and time-management skills.
