Senior SCADA Controls Systems Engineer – Battery Storage
Job Description
We are looking for a Senior SCADA Controls Systems Engineer to help us design, implement, and operate our control system infrastructure. This role involves programming PPC, HMI, and RTU systems, as well as creating technical documentation. You will support daily plant automation tasks to ensure network reliability and availability. You'll also provide technical support by responding to complex work orders and solving control system problems. You will oversee network upgrades, participate in construction and commissioning, and act as the subject matter expert for control and instrumentation systems, working with both internal and external teams during project phases.
Qualifications
1. Bachelor's degree in a related field; electrical engineering is preferred. 2. Six or more years of industry experience, preferably in renewable energy. 3. Experience with battery energy storage systems, including primary and fast frequency response, and black start. 4. Expertise in designing and maintaining plant control systems using SCADA and PLC platforms. 5. Understanding of data logging and historian platforms. 6. Experience with Inductive Automation Ignition. 7. Experience with Schneider Electric Modicon PLCs, SEL RTACs, and Novatech Orions. 8. Knowledge of industrial communication protocols, such as DNP3.0, Modbus, OPC-UA, and MQTT. 9. Proficiency in programming languages like Python, IEC 61131-3, C, C++, and C#. 10. Skill in writing technical specifications for process equipment. 11. Understanding of cyber-security best practices, including IT/OT standards and NERC/CIP/NIST procedures. 12. Ability to explain technical information simply. 13. Ability to work in a cross-functional team. 14. Proficiency in Microsoft Office. 15. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
