Senior Optical Assembly Process Engineer

Job Description

Join Ciena as a Senior Optical Assembly Process Engineer and contribute to the advancement of next-generation photonic products. This role involves developing and refining optical assembly processes and systems, from initial design to full-scale production and certification. You will be at the forefront of integrating automation and tooling solutions, working closely with internal engineering teams, suppliers, and contractors to ensure seamless execution. Your expertise will be essential in conducting experimental testing in cleanroom settings to optimize processes and equipment. As a key player, you'll oversee equipment installation, conduct site acceptance testing, and manage the transfer of operations to contract manufacturing partners. You will also take ownership of and optimize complete product assembly flows, encompassing active optical alignment and passive optical and mechanical assembly sequences. Additionally, you'll analyze assemblies from contract manufacturing partners to identify and implement process improvement opportunities, driving efficiency and quality.

Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree in a relevant Engineering field 2. 5+ years of experience in a related field 3. Hands-on problem solving with strong attention to detail 4. Technical, scientific, and experimental problem-solving methods 5. Experience programming manufacturing equipment 6. Application of CAD software in an engineering or manufacturing context 7. Demonstrated teamwork and professional communication skills 8. Experience managing projects under tight timelines 9. Fluency in English and French 10. Willingness to travel internationally on an occasional basis
