Senior IT Security Analyst

Job Description

UBC is seeking a Senior IT Security Analyst to ensure the security of its cybersecurity program. This role involves deploying and maintaining security controls, monitoring and analyzing security alerts, and optimizing detection effectiveness. The analyst will manage the vulnerability lifecycle, conduct web application security scans, and provide remediation guidance. They will also monitor threat intelligence, participate in incident response, and develop secure configurations in line with regulatory requirements. This position requires collaboration with IT, engineering, and business teams to strengthen security measures and support annual security initiatives. The ideal candidate will also maintain up-to-date security documentation and participate in special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree in a computer-related field, or 4 – 6 years equivalent experience. 2. 3 – 5 years of relevant working experience, preferably in IT Security. 3. Certification in Information Security (GIAC - GSEC, Security+, CISSP, CompTIA CySA+ or equivalent) preferred. 4. Familiarity with external regulations, e.g., GDPR, 21CFR part 11, HIPAA, Sarbanes-Oxley. 5. Strong understanding of information security principles and frameworks. 6. Strong experience in vulnerability management, including scanning, remediation coordination, and verification. 7. Hands-on experience with automated vulnerability scanning tools, including web application scanning solutions. 8. Understanding of web application security concepts (i.e., OWASP Top 10) and common attack techniques. 9. Familiarity with domain structures, user authentication, and digital signatures. 10. Experience with various on-premises and cloud security controls and systems (i.e., MS Intune, MS ATP, MS Purview, Active Directory, IAM). 11. Strong documentation and communications skills. 12. Experience in research and analyzing findings. 13. Experience as part of an incident response team. 14. Digital Forensics experience is a plus. 15. Programming and scripting experience is a plus. 16. Experience with cloud architecture is a plus. 17. Experience or comprehension of AI tools and various uses is a plus. 18. Demonstrated ability to coordinate with various teams for project/activity completion, work in a team environment, sharing workloads and responsibilities. 19. Ability to work in a flexible environment where requirements and procedures continuously evolve. 20. Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively. 21. Flexible hours, with availability for after-hours support as needed. 22. Participate in on-call rotation to respond to security alerts as needed.
