Senior Director – HIM, Coding & CDI
Job Description
Lead operational and strategic initiatives for Health Information Management (HIM), Coding, and Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) across acute care facilities and physician practices. Establish consistent system-wide standards for documentation and coding accuracy, while accommodating local workflows. Oversee daily operational performance, focusing on productivity, quality, turnaround times, and denial trends. Act as the primary point of contact for HIM, Coding, and CDI operational issues. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and regulatory guidelines. Analyze trends in revenue integrity and documentation quality to drive targeted improvement initiatives. Collaborate with physicians and clinical teams to enhance documentation clarity. Develop and lead HIM, Coding, and CDI teams.
Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred in Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, or related field. 2. 8-10+ years of experience in HIM, Coding, and/or CDI within an acute care or integrated health system. 3. Demonstrated leadership experience in a multi-hospital or system-level role. 4. Strong working knowledge of inpatient coding, CDI, regulatory requirements, and revenue integrity. 5. Ability to operate effectively in a hands-on leadership environment. 6. Required Certifications (one or more) RHIA CCS or CCS-P preferred
