Senior Director, Business Development
Job Description
As the Senior Director of Business Development, you'll report to the Chief Program Officer (CPO) and collaborate closely with Managing Partners. Your primary focus will be executing Lit's business development strategy and fostering strong relationships with education systems and philanthropic partners. Your key responsibilities include: - Nurturing relationships with school districts and local philanthropies, vital for Lit's financial stability. - Showcasing Lit's mission to facilitate program team collaboration with school leaders. - Partnering with the CPO and CEO to implement Lit's revenue strategy. - Building the pipeline, converting prospects into partners, and ensuring Lit has the resources needed to reach all students. - Leading outreach and discovery efforts with potential school district clients. - Collaborating with Managing Partners to tailor scopes of work and respond to RFPs that align with district needs while advancing Lit's model and outcomes. - Managing the sales process from initial contact to contract signing, with support from Managing Partners. - Communicating Lit's story effectively through presentations, proposals, and donor conversations. - Cultivating relationships with local philanthropic funders to support Lit's engagements with school districts. - Preparing the CEO for major philanthropic requests with relevant materials and context. - Collaborating with Managing Partners on renewals to ensure alignment between engagements and program delivery. - Crafting proposals and managing negotiations using Lit's pricing models to ensure financial sustainability and partner satisfaction. - Implementing outreach plans and a clear client journey for school district and philanthropic prospects. - Segmenting and prioritizing prospect lists to identify long-term partners. - Qualifying opportunities to focus resources on high-impact engagements. - Managing Lit's marketing presence, including collateral, content, events, and impact reporting. - Submitting RFPs/RFIs and securing placement on approved vendor lists. - Maintaining the CRM with accurate pipeline data and relationship status. - Analyzing pipeline data to identify patterns and refine outreach strategies. - Building and presenting sales and fundraising forecasts to the CPO and CEO. - Monitoring market trends and funder priorities to identify emerging opportunities. - Refining data processes to provide visibility into pipeline health and revenue trajectory. - Willingness to travel up to 40% of the year.
Qualifications
1. A professional with over 6 years of experience in business development, sales, or fundraising, preferably in K-12 education. 2. Additionally, experience with district procurement processes and philanthropic relationships is a plus, along with technical experience with CRM platforms.
