Senior Database Administrator

Job Description

We're looking for a Senior Database Administrator to design, develop, and maintain high-quality applications using React. In this role, you'll scale and optimize high-throughput PostgreSQL clusters, taking ownership of PostgreSQL reliability. You will help build and manage vector data capabilities and define production patterns for embeddings. This position involves enhancing high-availability, disaster-recovery, PITR, and backup strategies. Automating manual operational work, improving observability, and alert quality, as well as enhancing database security through robust access controls are important aspects of this role. You'll also contribute to modern platform initiatives, partner with service, AI, and platform teams, and participate in on-call rotations.

Qualifications

1. 5+ years operating PostgreSQL in high-volume production environments 2. Strong understanding of PostgreSQL internals and operations 3. Hands-on experience with high availability and read scaling 4. Experience with connection pooling and traffic management for PostgreSQL 5. Practical VectorDB or vector search experience 6. Ability to reason about vector index types and operational tradeoffs 7. Practical experience with CI/CD, GitOps, and Infrastructure-as-Code workflows 8. Solid cloud, Linux, storage, and networking fundamentals 9. Experience with containers and orchestration platforms 10. Strong security instincts around access control, credential lifecycle, encryption
