Senior Backend Engineer, Developer Experience

Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join our Developer Experience team, where you will contribute to building the next-generation platform services and developer tools at Hostaway. This role involves extracting functionality from the monolith, implementing PHP, Go, and TypeScript-based services, and ensuring that new services are reliable, observable, and easy to consume. Your work will standardize service templates, implement new services, APIs, and CI/CD practices, laying the groundwork for Hostaway's future scalability. Collaborate on the new authentication/authorization platform, modularize bounded contexts from the monolith, and contribute to Hostaway’s architectural standards. Build and maintain APIs and service templates with observability, while ensuring high code quality through unit, integration, and contract testing. Partner with platform engineers, security, and product teams to deliver cross-cutting capabilities and participate in design and code reviews.

Qualifications

1. Requires 6+ years of experience in SaaS software development. 2. Proficiency in Go, with experience building and operating production Go services; PHP knowledge is a plus. 3. Extensive experience with authentication and authorization concepts such as OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML, JWT/session management, and RBAC/ABAC. 4. Experience in defining architectural patterns and shared libraries. 5. Experience in designing and developing RESTful web APIs. 6. Familiarity with event-driven and service-oriented architectures, applying Domain-Driven Design (DDD) principles. 7. Experience migrating or evolving foundational systems without breaking downstream consumers. 8. Proficiency in monitoring and supporting production software. 9. Experience working in a Cloud environment (AWS is a plus). 10. Experience with message queues (e.g., AWS SQS) is a plus. 11. English language level C1.
