Sales Engineer – Raceway
Job Description
As a Sales Engineer specializing in Raceway products, you will: Serve as a technical expert for steel and PVC raceway solutions, encompassing conduit, fittings, strut, and accessories. Engage with consulting engineers and design teams to promote product specification, aligning solutions with specific project needs. Work closely with electrical and general contractors, providing technical support during estimation, coordination, and installation. Assist data center and mission-critical facility owners in tailoring product solutions to meet stringent reliability standards and design criteria. Create detailed technical documentation, including submittals, cut sheets, CAD drawings, and installation guides, to ensure seamless project execution. Conduct engaging technical presentations, training sessions, and lunch-and-learn events for design and construction partners. Collaborate closely with internal sales, product management, and engineering teams, sharing valuable field insights and driving product innovation. Support value engineering initiatives by highlighting the cost-effectiveness, performance advantages, and safety features of Zekelman products. Stay up-to-date with electrical codes and standards, including NEC, NFPA, UL, CSA, ANSI, and NEMA. Represent Zekelman Industries at key industry events, trade shows, and technical forums to expand brand visibility and strengthen relationships. Monitor project specifications and wins to inform strategic planning and business development efforts. Collaborate with other Zekelman divisions to provide integrated solutions for complex construction projects. Champion and enforce health and safety protocols, adhering to both regulatory guidelines and company standards.
Qualifications
1. Possess 10+ years of experience in electrical construction, raceway systems, or technical sales/engineering support. 2. Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field (preferred) or equivalent experience. 3. Demonstrate strong knowledge of electrical raceway systems, including steel conduit (EMT, rigid, IMC), PVC conduit, and related accessories. 4. Exhibit a solid understanding of commercial and industrial construction workflows, including design, estimating, bidding, and installation. 5. Have experience working collaboratively with consulting engineers, contractors, and project owners. 6. Possess strong technical communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly. 7. Have experience delivering training sessions, presentations, and technical discussions. 8. Be familiar with CAD, BIM, or specification software (preferred). 9. Be able to read and interpret electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, and coordinated models. 10. Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a customer-focused mindset. 11. Be willing to travel frequently on a national basis. 12. Be able to maintain regular, full-time, predictable attendance when not traveling.
