Research Intern – AI Ethics

Job Description

Seeking a Research Intern to conduct groundbreaking research in AI ethics, including data collection, AI evaluation, and harm mitigation. Contribute to the development of tools and frameworks to evaluate and minimize AI-related risks in natural language processing and computer vision, addressing bias, privacy, copyright, and transparency. Enhance the performance of open models to detect and mitigate AI harms through technical experiments and contribute to publishable research.

Qualifications

1. Currently pursuing a degree (PhD preferred) in Computer Science or socio-technical AI topics. 2. Strong foundations in AI and machine learning techniques in computer vision or natural language processing. 3. Familiarity with generative AI evaluation, benchmarking, red-teaming or guardrail development. 4. Experience using Python and deep learning libraries (e.g., PyTorch, HuggingFace Transformers) to develop, fine-tune, or evaluate generative AI models. 5. Strong interest in AI ethics and responsible AI development. 6. Proven research, analytical, and problem-solving skills. 7. Self-motivated and capable of proposing and implementing innovative ideas. 8. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. 9. Preferred: Experience with research communities, including having published papers at conferences/journals.
