Job Description

As a Principal Systems Safety Engineer, you will: - Conduct civil safety assessments in accordance with ARP4761 or military safety assessments in accordance with MIL-STD-882E, including System Safety Program Plans (SSPPs), Functional Hazard Assessments (FHAs), Preliminary System Safety Assessments (PSSAs), System Safety Assessments (SSAs), Fault Tree Analysis (FTAs), Common Mode Analyses (CMAs), and Safety Assessment Reports (SARs). - Assist systems, hardware, and software engineering teams in establishing system safety requirements during development activities. - Scrutinize design and development documentation for safety-critical equipment. - Evaluate analyses performed by peer safety engineers. - Mentor and educate less experienced safety engineers. - Be accountable to team members and organizational leaders for committed work and responsibilities. - Cultivate and maintain expertise in assigned areas (program, function, process, technology). - Engage with customers, stakeholders, and organizational leaders to formulate plans.

Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you should possess: 1. A degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and a minimum of 5 years of experience. 2. Familiarity with aircraft or electronic systems. 3. Ability to prepare and present technical information to peers, internal management, and external customers. 4. Proficiency in coordinating multiple projects and complex engineering activities while managing priorities and schedules effectively. 5. Experience in Product Safety Analysis. 6. Working knowledge of ARP4761 OR Mil-Std 882E, or other equivalent industry-accepted safety standards. 7. Basic knowledge of ARP4754A, DO-254, DO-178B/C, and DO-297. 8. Expertise in Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), as well as CAFTA. 9. Basic knowledge of reliability engineering theory. 10. Recognized technical expert in avionics safety. 11. Proficiency in understanding the mathematical aspects of Safety and Reliability engineering, including statistics, probability theory, and mathematical modeling. 12. Cross-cultural awareness to navigate diverse team environments effectively. 13. Strong adherence to process compliance.
