Job Description

Seeking a Principal Platform Engineer to evolve and maintain the AWS infrastructure supporting our data platform, machine learning training, and analytics workloads. You will design, deploy, and maintain EKS-based services and Kubernetes workloads. This role involves building and managing Terraform infrastructure across development, staging, and production environments. You'll design and maintain CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and application deployment using GitLab/GitHub. Responsibilities include operating and improving Kafka/Redpanda clusters, enhancing reliability and performance of prediction services, and supporting Dagster for data workflow orchestration. Collaboration with Data Science, ML Engineering, and Data Engineering teams is essential for productionizing models and data pipelines. You'll strengthen AWS IAM, networking, and connectivity between cloud and on-prem systems, support cyber hardening efforts, and incrementally improve existing infrastructure and deployment patterns.

Qualifications

1. Requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree in a related field with at least 5 years of experience. 2. Proficiency in Python. 3. Strong experience with AWS, including EKS, IAM, VPCs, and networking. 4. Hands-on Kubernetes experience operating production workloads. 5. Experience managing Kafka or Redpanda in production environments. 6. Proficiency with Terraform for infrastructure as code. 7. Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitLab, GitHub Actions, or similar tools. 8. Solid understanding of distributed systems, reliability, and scaling. 9. Experience supporting production data pipelines or machine learning systems. 10. Experience with observability stacks such as Prometheus, Grafana, and Thanos.
