Medical Coding Specialist

Job Description

We are looking for a Medical Coding Specialist to deliver efficient and accurate coding services for our member clients. In this role, you'll extract and interpret relevant clinical data from patient medical records, reviewing and analyzing patient encounters to assign appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes. You'll also support member organizations in achieving appropriate reimbursement and conduct research to obtain additional information from providers or clinical staff as needed, enhancing coding accuracy for a streamlined revenue cycle. Your work will help optimize revenue and ensure compliance with healthcare coding standards.

Qualifications

1. Experience in billing and/or coding revenue cycle is advantageous. 2. Strong understanding of Medicare, Medicaid, MVA, Workers' Compensation, and private insurance billing and reimbursement processes, including legal requirements, is preferred. 3. Required certifications for Outpatient roles: Medical coding certification from AAPC (CPC Certificate) or AHIMA (CCS Certificate), and current certification from ADCA (CDC certificate). 4. Required certifications for Inpatient roles: Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC) or AHIMA Inpatient certification. 5. All candidates must complete a 50–60-minute competency assessment prior to the team interview.
