Medical Coder – Medicaid, Behavioral Health

Job Description

Seeking a skilled Medical Coder to specialize in CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 coding, with a focus on high-impact services. The role involves leading the validation of new codes, applying advanced modifier usage, and conducting research on payer policies. Responsibilities include establishing coding standards, serving as a subject matter expert for automation initiatives, and performing chart reviews using MDM guidelines to ensure coding accuracy.

Qualifications

1. Active coding certification (CPC, CCS, or equivalent) 2. Minimum of 5 years of medical coding experience, with expertise in Medicaid and MCO billing 3. Comprehensive understanding of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding systems 4. Proficiency in modifier usage, including Medicaid and MCO requirements 5. Proven experience in conducting research on new codes and payer policies 6. Strong knowledge of E/M coding and Medical Decision Making (MDM) 7. Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills 8. Process improvement mindset with cross-functional communication skills 9. Experience in behavioral health or telehealth billing (preferred) 10. Background in denial analysis and revenue optimization (preferred)
