Manager, Donor Engagement – Stewardship
Job Description
This role involves leading the development and enhancement of a comprehensive donor stewardship and recognition program in collaboration with the VP, Philanthropy, across all individual giving segments. The candidate will design and implement segmented donor journeys for consistent and meaningful engagement throughout the donor lifecycle. The role includes establishing frameworks for donor recognition, overseeing the creation of donor-facing materials, and personalizing donor experiences to strengthen relationships and support retention. Responsibilities also involve incorporating donor storytelling and insights into engagement materials, managing the production and distribution of donor recognition assets, and ensuring alignment with segmentation and giving levels. The role includes gathering and analyzing donor data to evaluate effectiveness, recommending improvements to stewardship strategies, and maintaining systems that track donor interactions. The candidate will also work with internal teams to coordinate donor engagement efforts and contribute to campaign planning and evaluation. Annually, the role also includes developing, distributing, analyzing, and reporting on the Donor Affinity Survey.
Qualifications
1. Completion of an undergraduate degree or equivalent in marketing, fundraising management, public relations, or communications. 2. Minimum 4 years’ professional experience in development/fundraising for a not for profit or charitable organization or marketing management position. 3. The ability to develop programs related to donor stewardship and recognition. 4. Demonstrated competency in project development, project management, and issue management. 5. Well-honed collaboration and multi-stakeholder engagement skills. 6. Confident, polished, and excellent verbal and written communication skills. 7. Ability to leverage data analytics and donor insights to guide engagement strategy, enhance personalization, and drive donor retention and growth. 8. Strong technical skills: learn/understand CMS (content management system), databases (ideally Microsoft Dynamics), e-mail programs (MailChimp and Customer Insights), file sharing (e.g. Dropbox), ability to learn other web-based systems (e.g. analytical tools such as Google analytics and email analytics), knowledge of Adobe design programs is an asset. 9. Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset.
