Job Description

We are seeking a meticulous Legal Transcriptionist/Editor to refine AI-generated transcriptions of legal depositions by comparing them against original audio or video recordings for comprehensive accuracy. Responsibilities include: 1. Editing and proofreading AI-generated transcripts to correct errors in grammar, punctuation, and formatting. 2. Conducting thorough research to verify the correctness of technical and specialized legal terminology and names. 3. Ensuring the accurate identification of speakers. 4. Maintaining consistent adherence to established style guidelines. 5. Performing live data tagging to support Prevail's AI-enhanced transcription workflows. 6. Working efficiently to meet deadlines without compromising quality. 7. Adapting to evolving AI technology and transcription practices, as well as Prevail’s editing environment.

Qualifications

To qualify for this role, applicants should possess: 1. A college or university degree or certification in court reporting/transcription is preferred. 2. Exceptional attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines, with the capacity to concentrate for extended periods. 3. Strong ability to prioritize multiple requests and deadlines concurrently. 4. Proficiency in following and adhering to specific transcription style guidelines. 5. Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, complemented by logical and contextual thinking and thorough research abilities. 6. Capability to interact with team members professionally and respectfully. 7. Familiarity with legal terminology and jargon. 8. Computer literacy and comfort with learning new technologies. 9. Fluency in English, with a comprehensive grasp of grammar, spelling, punctuation, and idioms. A portfolio demonstrating language proficiency, reasoning, research skills, contextual thinking, and attention to detail is highly advantageous. AAERT (American Association of Electronic Reporters and Transcribers) Certified Electronic Transcriber (CET) or similar certification is also beneficial.
