Insurance Verification Assistant
Job Description
Seeking an Insurance Verification Assistant to understand and verify benefits for Outpatient, Inpatient, and Ambulatory Surgery Services. Responsible for obtaining prior authorization for visits, procedures, and hospitalizations. You'll handle pre-approvals, PCP referrals, and pre-determinations for all electively scheduled admissions, outpatient surgeries, and other designated outpatient visits. You'll also contact patients and families to gather demographic and insurance details vital to the authorization process and inform them of co-pays.
Qualifications
1. High School Diploma or GED. 2. Proficient in PC Knowledge with strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. 3. Minimum of 6 months experience in customer service or a healthcare setting. 4. An Associate's Degree and at least 1 year of experience in a Patient Revenue role at OSUWMC are preferred. 5. Familiarity with medical terminology and payer requirements is advantageous. 6. Experience with Windows, Excel, and intranet/internet navigation tools, along with system content, is desirable. 7. Demonstrated ability to work across multiple databases and software applications, with experience using automated databases for management and reporting. 8. Ability to work independently while effectively interacting with consumers, physicians, and all medical center faculty and staff. 9. Clear communication skills with the healthcare team are crucial.
