Head of Legal

Job Description

We are seeking a Head of Legal to oversee our legal functions. Key responsibilities include drafting, reviewing, and negotiating customer agreements, MSAs, order forms, SaaS subscription agreements, and vendor contracts. You will maintain standard contract templates, advise on contract risk, and manage the contract lifecycle. You'll also serve as the legal partner for the People team, advising on employment law compliance, reviewing HR policies, and supporting scalable people processes. Further responsibilities include supporting corporate insurance programs, managing corporate records, and supporting due diligence, financing rounds, and M&A activity. Additionally, you'll protect Roofr's IP portfolio, monitor regulatory developments, and partner with Security and Engineering on data handling practices. Building and maintaining legal infrastructure and educating internal stakeholders on legal risk are also crucial. Lastly, manage outside counsel efficiently.

Qualifications

1. J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar admission in the US or Canada. 2. 8-12+ years of legal experience, with a mix of law firm and in-house tech or SaaS company experience strongly preferred. 3. Genuine generalist with experience in commercial contracts, employment matters, and corporate work. 4. Strong commercial instincts with the ability to understand business context and find solutions. 5. Experience supporting a scaling startup or growth-stage company (Series A through C or beyond). 6. Comfortable with ambiguity and building from scratch. 7. Clear, direct communicator who translates complex legal concepts into plain language. 8. Cross-border fluency in US and Canadian employment and commercial law.
