Graphic Design Teaching Assistant
Job Description
Support studio-based teaching in Graphic Design courses, particularly in areas like illustration, printmaking, visual communication, and digital design. Assist faculty members in studio instruction, student mentoring, lab supervision, and course preparation. Help prepare course materials, demonstrations, and digital resources used in studio instruction. Provide guidance to students during studio work, critiques, and project development. Assist in monitoring student progress and maintaining studio discipline and safety protocols. Support faculty in organizing student critiques, presentations, and portfolio reviews. Help maintain studio facilities, equipment, and materials used in illustration and printmaking labs. Assist in managing course-related administrative tasks such as organizing course materials, uploading resources to Canvas, and supporting course logistics. Provide support to students during lab hours, workshops, or tutoring sessions. Assist with documenting student work for exhibitions, assessment, or accreditation purposes. Support faculty in preparing materials for senior projects, exhibitions, or competitions. Contribute to maintaining an organized and productive studio learning environment.
Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, Visual Communication, Illustration, or a closely related field from an accredited institution. 2. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and other relevant digital design tools. 3. Familiarity with digital illustration tools, printmaking processes, and studio-based workflows. 4. Strong understanding of visual communication principles, typography, layout, and illustration techniques. 5. Ability to assist students with both conceptual design development and technical execution. 6. Strong written and verbal communication skills in English. 7. Ability to work effectively in a multicultural academic environment. 8. Previous experience as a teaching assistant, tutor, or studio assistant in a design-related program. 9. Interest in collaborating with Interior Design, Architecture, and other design disciplines.
