Freelance DevOps Engineer, Google Cloud, DigitalOcean

Job Description

Seeking a Freelance DevOps Engineer to set up, improve, and maintain CI/CD pipelines, preferably using GitLab CI/CD. Manage and optimize infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (Compute Engine, Cloud Run, GKE) and DigitalOcean (Droplets, Load Balancers, Spaces). Containerize applications with Docker and manage production deployments. Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform or similar tools for GCP and DigitalOcean. Configure and maintain development, staging, and production environments. Monitor system health, performance, logs, and uptime. Troubleshoot deployment, performance, and infrastructure issues. Implement security best practices (IAM, secrets management, SSL/TLS, firewall rules). Collaborate with developers to streamline build, test, and release workflows. Ensure scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency of infrastructure.

Qualifications

1. Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer on freelance/contract projects. 2. Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP). 3. Solid experience managing infrastructure on DigitalOcean. 4. Strong expertise in CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI/CD preferred). 5. Advanced knowledge of Linux systems and server administration. 6. Strong experience with Docker and container-based deployments. 7. Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, etc.). 8. Ability to work independently and deliver tasks end-to-end. 9. Clear communication and remote collaboration skills, working with a team of 1 designer and 5 software engineers / developers.
