Facility Surgical Coder 2

Job Description

Seeking a meticulous Facility Surgical Coder to meticulously review same-day surgery and observation medical records. Responsibilities include accurately assigning ICD-10-CM diagnostic and procedural CPT-4/HCPCS codes, abstracting demographic and coding information, and ensuring coding accuracy. You'll clarify codes with providers, manage problem accounts, and assist with coding backlogged accounts. Mentoring new coders and addressing documentation issues are also key aspects of this role.

Qualifications

1. High School Diploma or GED 2. Minimum 3 years acute care same day surgery and observation coding experience 3. CCS, CPC, RHIA, or RHIT certification preferred 4. Demonstrated maintenance of 95% or higher accuracy in abstracting, code and DRG assignment 5. Ability to work remotely 6. Computer/data entry proficiency 7. Strong communication skills with healthcare team members 8. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
