Director, Power Marketing – Origination

Job Description

Join Hanwha Renewables as a Director of Power Marketing. Take the lead in negotiating power purchase agreements and building transfer agreements. Develop and nurture relationships with utility companies, municipalities, cooperatives, community choice aggregators, and corporate off-takers. Formulate commercial theses for each market, providing vital intelligence for development and acquisition strategies. Identify new offtake opportunities through competitive solicitations and bilateral discussions. Spearhead the preparation of proposal packages for utility-scale solar, storage, and hybrid projects across North America. Create innovative deal structures and recommendations for successful outcomes. Stay updated on market trends and regulatory changes. Prepare investment memoranda and presentations for Senior Management. Actively participate in industry groups and follow regulatory changes to identify opportunities and risks. Utilize your technical expertise in the full life cycle of utility solar project origination and development. Collaborate closely with various groups within Hanwha Renewables and related affiliates.

Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s Degree or higher in business, finance, engineering, sustainability, or related field. 2. 5+ years of experience in power marketing, origination, or similar role. 3. Proficiency in structuring and negotiating offtake deals, including PPAs, VPPAs, tolling agreements, financial hedges. 4. Advanced knowledge of U.S. utility-scale solar development, power markets, and customer segments. 5. Understanding of battery storage contracting structures is preferred. 6. Ability to stay current with changing technologies, regulations, and trends. 7. Ability to quickly adapt to new tasks and circumstances. 8. Experience operating in a geographically dispersed organization is a plus. 9. Excellent interpersonal, time management, communication, and relationship building skills. 10. Willingness to travel up to 40% of the time in North America.
