Director of Engineering

Job Description

As the Director of Engineering, you will be responsible for the overall performance, culture, and output of the engineering organization. You'll define and maintain the technical roadmap for orchestration in collaboration with the product team. In partnership with the CTO, you will influence the evolution of the orchestration domain as Primer expands. Your role includes maintaining high standards for security, reliability, and low latency, as well as developing engineering leaders within the orchestration team.

Qualifications

1. Extensive experience in leading multiple engineering teams through periods of significant growth or technical transformation. 2. Proven experience in managing and developing engineering managers. 3. Experience in running multi-team domains. 4. Experience in running multi-tenant, high-scale, low-latency, high-reliability systems. 5. Demonstrated ability to implement large-scale architectural changes while maintaining a production system. 6. Comfortable working at both strategic and tactical levels. 7. Ability to collaborate effectively with other functions such as Product, GTM, and Finance. 8. Excellent communication skills to effectively engage with executive stakeholders. Nice to have: 1. Experience with payment systems. 2. Experience with merchant-facing APIs and SDKs across backend, frontend, and mobile platforms. 3. Familiarity with event-driven architectures like Kafka and SQS/SNS, and distributed databases such as CockroachDB and DynamoDB.
