Director of Engineering

Job Description

Lead the technical vision and execution as the Director of Engineering at Leafwell. Manage a dedicated team of engineers and external partners, driving innovation in the medical cannabis sector. You'll actively engage with the codebase, design systems, and review code to maintain high standards. Set engineering strategies, improve processes, and ensure alignment between product vision and technical delivery. Implement agentic development frameworks and intelligent automation to enhance workflows. Partner with stakeholders to create technical plans and improve CI/CD pipelines, testing, and documentation. Oversee infrastructure on AWS, focusing on reliability and cost efficiency. Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the engineering team.

Qualifications

1. Possess 8+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 3 years in engineering leadership. 2. Demonstrate proficiency in Node.js, TypeScript, and React in production environments. 3. Exhibit strong experience with AWS core services, including Lambda, RDS, DynamoDB, CloudWatch, and S3. 4. Have experience managing mixed teams, coordinating in-house engineers with external contractors. 5. Show familiarity with agentic system frameworks and AI-driven workflows. 6. Familiarity with Ruby on Rails is a plus. 7. Have solid database experience with PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, or MySQL. 8. Have experience designing and scaling RESTful APIs. 9. Have a proven track record of improving engineering processes. 10. Exhibit excellent communication skills and a pragmatic leadership style.
