Director of Design

Job Description

As the Director of Design at Soundstripe, you will be the primary design leader. This role involves both strategic vision and hands-on execution. You'll work closely with the Product and Engineering Directors to develop products from start to finish. Help shape the strategy to meet and expand our customer base's needs as we grow Soundstripe. Lead in solving customer problems and creating solutions as we expand from B2C to B2B to B2E. Oversee product design across our web platform and new product surfaces. Champion UX quality in product discussions. Own the Soundstripe brand's aesthetic identity in partnership with Marketing. Maintain our design system, including token-based components and Figma-to-code workflows. Design scalable patterns that let a small team achieve significant results, especially with AI tooling. Rethink design workflows with AI at the center, from Figma-to-code pipelines to using LLMs for UX research and prototyping.

Qualifications

1. Strong product design portfolio showcasing shipped consumer or SaaS products. 2. Experience leading design within a small company or startup environment. 3. Comfort with both brand and marketing design. 4. Design systems experience building or maintaining component libraries. 5. Hands-on experience with Figma variables, design tokens, and LLM-powered code-generation workflows. 6. Strong communication and follow-through skills. 7. Willingness to advocate for user needs and provide constructive feedback. 8. AI-native mindset with experience integrating AI into the design process. 9. Bonus points for experience with music, media, or creative tools, or working with a technical founder or CTO.
