Director of Data Governance

Job Description

Lead the evolution of data governance at Deel. Key responsibilities include: 1. Establishing a data governance strategy aligned with the Enterprise Information & Governance vision. 2. Maintaining and enforcing the Data Management Policy and Data Governance Charter. 3. Leading the Data Governance Council, facilitating decisions on data standards. 4. Implementing Data Quality Management Procedures and KPIs. 5. Defining enterprise-wide data standards, including metadata management and MDM protocols. 6. Leading the identification and remediation of "bad data." 7. Collaborating with CFO and Security teams to optimize data pipelines for AI while maintaining security. 8. Defining data classification levels and managing data access policies. 9. Ensuring data practices comply with global privacy regulations. 10. Recruiting, training, and managing a network of Data Stewards and Owners. 11. Driving a culture of data literacy and accountability. 12. Providing executive leadership with updates on governance maturity and ROI.

Qualifications

1. Requires 10+ years in Data Management, Data Governance, or Information Architecture, with 5+ years in leadership. 2. Must have deep understanding of data profiling tools and modern data stack. 3. Prior experience with AI systems in production. 4. Must be capable of drafting "Decision Papers" that get executive buy-in. 5. Good knowledge of DAMA-DMBOK frameworks and data quality lifecycle management. 6. Proven ability to translate technical data risks into business impact.
