Director, Individual Giving
Job Description
Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive individual giving strategy, encompassing major gifts, mid-level giving, planned giving, and annual giving, to exceed revenue goals. Manage a portfolio of major gift donors and prospects, securing five- and six-figure gifts through personalized engagement. Identify and qualify new major gift prospects through research, referrals, and events. Develop a planned giving program, promoting bequests, charitable gift annuities, donor-advised funds, stock gifts, and estate gifts. Partner with the Chief Development Officer to engage senior leadership and board members in fundraising. Create stewardship plans to deepen donor engagement and loyalty, including impact reports and personal communications. Collaborate with the marketing team on donor communications and campaigns. Maintain donor records in Salesforce and provide regular revenue updates to the CDO. Identify and address potential shortfalls. Collaborate with programs teams to develop compelling cases for support and funding opportunities. Manage a team to develop their full potential.
Qualifications
1. Minimum 10 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, with a focus on individual and major giving. 2. Proven track record of securing five- and six-figure gifts from individual donors. 3. Minimum of five years of experience leading and managing a team. 4. Experience managing a portfolio of major gift donors and prospects, exceeding annual revenue goals. 5. Experience developing a planned giving program. 6. Results-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. 7. Exceptional relationship-building skills. 8. Outstanding verbal and written communication skills. 9. Proficiency with CRM systems (Salesforce). 10. Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25% for donor meetings.
