Job Description

This position involves managing crucial workloads, ensuring robust data security and compliance, and implementing scalable solutions for both Online Transaction Processing (OLTP) and analytical environments. The Senior DBA will be pivotal in database upgrades, migrations, disaster recovery, automation, performance tuning, and incident/change management, aligning with ITIL best practices and enterprise governance standards. This role demands significant hands-on experience in hybrid infrastructure, including on-premises SQL Server environments and cloud-native services, emphasizing reliability, automation, and cost optimization. You will work closely with application teams, cloud engineers, data engineers, security teams, and business stakeholders to support comprehensive database operations across development, non-production, and production environments.

Qualifications

1. Extensive expertise in database architecture, performance tuning, and high availability across distributed systems is essential. 2. A minimum of 7-10+ years of experience as a Database Administrator is required. 3. Solid experience with SQL Server (2017–2022+) and Azure SQL Database and Azure SQL Managed Instance is crucial. 4. Proven expertise in performance tuning, indexing, and query optimization is needed. 5. Experience with High Availability/Disaster Recovery (HA/DR) solutions such as Always On, clustering, log shipping, and replication is necessary. 6. Comprehensive knowledge of backup/recovery strategies and disaster recovery planning is expected. 7. Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), or Google Cloud Platform (GCP)) is required. 8. A strong understanding of database security and encryption techniques is essential. 9. Proficiency in scripting and automation is a must. 10. Practical knowledge of Snowflake architecture, administration, and cost management is preferred. 11. Experience managing or supporting Azure Cosmos DB (Core SQL API preferred) is a plus. 12. Experience operating in ITIL-aligned environments for incident, change, and problem management is beneficial. 13. Exposure to DevOps/Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) practices for database deployments is highly advantageous.
