Customer Reliability Engineer, Airflow
Job Description
Become proficient in various software engineering domains, including Airflow, data engineering, Kubernetes, and cloud engineering. Broaden your perspective by understanding product development, engineering practices, customer relationship management, and more. Address complex Airflow challenges for clients, from optimizing configurations to identifying novel bugs. Dedicate up to 20% of your time to projects that enhance Astronomer's success, such as contributing to the open-source Airflow repository or developing internal monitoring systems based on Airflow. Engage with a state-of-the-art, cloud-based product that interfaces with numerous systems, expanding your knowledge. Collaborate directly with customer's data engineers, system administrators, DevOps teams, and management. Offer insights based on your experiences to influence the future of the Airflow project. Take ownership of the customer journey, working directly with them to prioritize and resolve issues, meet service level agreements (SLAs), and provide personalized guidance towards production readiness.
Qualifications
1. Background in data engineering. 2. Four years of experience with Python. 3. One year of experience with Kubernetes/Docker/Containers. 4. Proficiency in Airflow administration and DAG creation. 5. Experience working with a distributed system on a major cloud provider (AWS, GCP, Azure). 6. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. 7. Ability to work autonomously and independently. 8. Excellent written and verbal communication skills for customer interaction via ticketing systems and Zoom. 9. Experience mentoring junior team members.
