Cost Accounting Manager

Job Description

Assume responsibility for the daily tasks of cost accounting, including inventory assessment using complete absorption accounting and calculations for the bill of materials. Manage the analysis of purchase price variances and ensure that costs are accurately allocated. Reconcile inventory balances monthly and create journal entries for COGS, along with any required adjustments. Examine and assign costs related to inventory and COGS, such as freight, tariffs, duties, and overhead. Collaborate with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Fulfillment, Logistics, and Operations divisions to enhance inventory procedures. Supervise NetSuite setups and improvements related to inventory management and system integrations. Calculate and document inventory reserves, including provisions for surplus, outdated, and end-of-life products, as well as warranties. Produce inventory rollforwards, variance analyses, and reports on inventory, COGS, and gross margin. Develop and maintain adaptable processes, controls, and documentation that adhere to U.S. GAAP and internal standards. Ensure readiness for audits through well-organized documentation and compliance with internal controls.

Qualifications

1. Possess 7+ years of experience in cost accounting or inventory accounting within a corporate or public accounting setting. 2. Demonstrate a strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, specifically ASC 330 (Inventory). 3. Have experience with bill of materials, reserves for excess and obsolescence, and accounting for purchase price variances. 4. Be familiar with ERP systems such as NetSuite or similar platforms. 5. Possess advanced skills in Excel, including the ability to work with large datasets and reconciliations. 6. Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. 7. A CPA license or active pursuit of CPA is preferred. 8. Experience in supporting or implementing automation within accounting processes is preferred. 9. Exhibit strong attention to detail with the capacity to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines. 10. Demonstrate effective communication skills with experience in cross-functional partnerships. 11. Hands-on experience using GenAI tools to solve practical problems with clear, measurable outcomes.
