Cloud FinOps Analyst II

Job Description

Take the lead in refining cloud cost optimization strategies. Act as a specialized expert, working closely with engineering, finance, and procurement teams. Champion sophisticated financial accountability, create effective cloud solutions, and build detailed forecasting models. Actively seek out opportunities, guide key strategic decisions, and coach others on FinOps leading practices. Keep watch over cloud use in AWS and MS Azure, scrutinize spending habits, and pinpoint areas for financial savings. Enforce tactics like rightsizing, reserved instances, savings plans, and improvements to storage and networks. Design and update dashboards to show cloud expenses across various teams and business divisions. Develop and manage financial models to predict cloud spending and compare it against established budgets. Deliver high-level reports that link cloud financial aspects to tangible business results. Team up with Finance to define methods for allocating costs and close the gap between technical and financial aspects. Improve data flows with checks for accuracy and early detection of unusual activity. Streamline reporting and set up alerts for cost optimization. Take charge of cloud cost management tools and programs for tagging and governance. Work in close cooperation with Cloud Engineers, Architects, and Procurement to ensure cloud strategy aligns with company objectives. Provide guidance and training to team members on FinOps concepts and effective cloud cost control techniques. Influence engineering teams by explaining financial concepts and strategies for optimization in a clear and understandable manner.

Qualifications

1. Requires a Bachelor's degree 2. 2 – 4 years of related experience 3. equivalent experience acquired through accomplishments of applicable knowledge, duties, scope and skill reflective of the level of this position
