Character Artist – 8-month contract

Canada – Remote Contract$80k - $90k /year

Job Description

Become a Character Artist and create assets from start to finish, including 3D modeling, sculpting, retopology, UV layout creation, map baking, texturing, and basic skinning. You will implement assets in the engine and collaborate with Art Leadership to follow artistic direction and asset creation practices. You'll also work with technical artists, animators, and designers to ensure proper asset functionality. Participate in art reviews, incorporating feedback and sharing ideas to improve production. Use existing assets creatively, maintaining a cohesive character style.

Qualifications

1. 4+ years of experience in the game industry, specifically in character art for PC or console platforms. 2. Strong portfolio showcasing realistic human anatomy, clothing and armor design. 3. Expertise in organic 3D sculpting (ZBrush/3D-Coat), 3D modeling (Maya/Blender), and hard-surface modeling skills. 4. Solid understanding of Map-Baking, PBR workflows, and Material definition using Substance Painter and Photoshop. 5. Experience working within proprietary engines, with technical execution and problem-solving skills. 6. Desire to be highly collaborative and eager to take constructive feedback.
