Refine the prioritization, scoping, tracking, and documentation processes for bioinformatics initiatives to bolster sustainability and clarity. Forge close partnerships with engineering, product, and design teams to deliver seamlessly integrated, user-centric solutions rooted in bioinformatics insights. Play a pivotal role in recruiting, integrating, and expanding the team as the company evolves. Stay abreast of the latest industry innovations, benchmarks, and datasets, infusing the team with cutting-edge methodologies.
Qualifications
1. Possess a minimum of 3 years of experience in managing technical teams, adeptly navigating career development discussions, team dynamics, and accountability, all while fostering genuine growth. 2. Exhibit the capacity to articulate bioinformatics priorities and constraints to both technical and non-technical senior leadership, building trust through transparency and diligent follow-through. 3. Demonstrate a robust understanding of genomics and bioinformatics, capable of engaging in scientific discourse and influencing technical direction. 4. Possess hands-on experience with essential bioinformatics tools and data formats (e.g., BAM, VCF, FASTQ; samtools, bcftools, etc.) and pipeline frameworks (WDL, Nextflow, Snakemake, CWL). 5. Demonstrate proficiency in programming/scripting languages (Python, R, or similar), sufficient to review code, guide decisions, and aid in debugging. 6. Exhibit familiarity with cloud and/or HPC computing environments and best practices for reproducibility. 7. Adopt a strategic perspective, capable of aiding in work prioritization, scoping new projects, and aligning technical decisions with product and scientific objectives. 8. Bring 5+ years of practical experience in bioinformatics, with proven expertise in NGS data analysis and production-scale pipelines. 9. Hold a graduate degree (Master's or PhD) in bioinformatics, computational biology, genetics, or a related field, or possess equivalent practical experience.
