AWS/Lambda Developer

Job Description

Seeking an AWS/Lambda Developer to aid in the evolution of cloud-based features for the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) Loan Guaranty Service (LGY). This role involves hands-on development and maintenance of AWS Lambda functions, which are crucial for retrieving, transforming, and processing veteran data. The successful candidate will be responsible for debugging Lambda execution errors, fine-tuning transformation/translation logic, validating API payload mappings, and enhancing error handling workflows. Additionally, the role includes supporting hotfix deployments and closely monitoring Lambda execution logs to ensure optimal performance and reliability.

Qualifications

1. Develop and maintain AWS Lambda functions to support data retrieval and processing across LGY integrations. 2. Implement and maintain API integrations with VA enterprise systems. 3. Create and maintain data transformation and mapping logic for downstream consumption in Salesforce. 4. Troubleshoot and resolve production defects related to Lambda execution and integration workflows. 5. Monitor and analyze CloudWatch logs and system metrics to identify errors and performance issues. 6. Implement error handling, retry logic, and resilient processing patterns for API-driven workflows. 7. Support AWS Step Functions orchestration for multi-step integration processes. 8. Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and support the resolution of production incidents. 9. Collaborate with development and DevOps teams to support deployments and system stability. 10. Ensure solutions follow secure coding practices and VA OIT compliance requirements. 11. Bachelor's degree and 5 years of AWS/Lambda or relevant software development experience, OR Associate’s degree and 7 years of AWS/Lambda or relevant experience, OR High School Diploma/GED and 9 years of AWS/Lambda or relevant experience. 12. Ability to obtain VA Public Trust Clearance. 13. Hands-on experience with AWS services like Lambda, API Gateway, Step Functions, CloudWatch, S3, and IAM. 14. Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools like Terraform or AWS CloudFormation 15. Experience developing and supporting API-driven integration architectures across multiple systems. 16. Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices for automated deployments. 17. Experience using logging and monitoring tools like CloudWatch, Splunk, Datadog, or similar platforms. 18. Understanding of secure coding practices and cloud security standards aligned with NIST, FISMA, or FedRAMP. 19. Experience troubleshooting distributed systems and serverless architectures. 20. AWS Certification such as AWS Certified Developer, Solutions Architect, or SysOps Administrator.
