Job Description

Rebuild product accounting processes from scratch. Evaluate and improve every process supporting loans, credit cards, and cash advances, applying industry best practices for efficient troubleshooting. Lead monthly and quarterly close activities across product accounting, ensuring accurate and timely reporting. Handle balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, revenue, accruals, and cash activities. Partner with engineering, data infrastructure, and BI teams to ensure proper accounting treatment is integrated into new product designs from the beginning. Strategize across functions, working with FP&A, capital markets, and senior leadership to proactively identify cross-functional workstreams, gaps, risks, and opportunities. Establish documentation, audit trails, and process controls for audit readiness. Lead accounting treatment for complex fintech products, including loan originations, servicing, interest income, charge-offs, and credit card and cash advance operations. Support audit and regulatory requirements by preparing detailed workpapers, documentation, and reconciliations.

Qualifications

1. 7-10 years of accounting experience with expertise in fintech or financial services product accounting, specifically loans, credit cards, or cash advances. 2. Experience in both fast-paced startups and rigorous public company environments. 3. High level of autonomy with the ability to independently identify issues, prioritize tasks, and execute solutions. 4. Proven experience in managing or mentoring a team. 5. Track record of proactively anticipating issues and translating insights into actionable solutions. 6. Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and accounting operations across various product types. 7. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with experience in NetSuite or similar ERP systems preferred. 8. CPA or CPA-track strongly preferred. 9. A builder's mindset focused on making improvements.
