Accounting Lead

Job Description

Take ownership of the monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting procedures, managing financial statements, reconciliations, journal entries, and variance analysis. Create an accounting framework from the ground up, including a chart of accounts, close schedule, internal controls, and accounting policies. Spearhead the annual audit, ensuring ongoing audit readiness. Handle tax compliance, payroll accounting, and entity-level submissions. Work closely with Finance, Legal, and People teams to ensure financial operations align with business practices. Identify and eliminate manual tasks by automating processes and documenting necessary procedures. Manage and mentor a team of accountants while staying actively involved in daily tasks.

Qualifications

1. 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including significant time at a high-growth SaaS company. 2. Strong technical command of US GAAP, including SaaS revenue recognition (ASC 606) and equity-based compensation; CPA preferred. 3. Experience owning a full-cycle close and managing external audits end-to-end. 4. Comfortable building from scratch: processes, controls, and policies — without a playbook handed to you. 5. Experience managing or mentoring accountants, or clear readiness to do so. 6. Proficiency in ERP platforms; experience evaluating or implementing a new ERP is a strong plus. 7. Sharp on the details and equally capable of communicating what the numbers mean to people who aren't accountants. 8. Sound judgment on what to build first and what can wait — this role requires sequencing, not just execution.
